VIDEO: Claire Emslie of Scotland Scores Country's First Women's World Cup Goal Ever Against England
By Zack Jiang

For most of their match against England, the Scotland women's soccer team was held scoreless in their first World Cup appearance. However, they weren't going to just quit that easily. During the 78th minute of the match, Claire Emslie booted in the team's first ever World Cup goal.

The goalie had no chance of blocking that one.
The goal came off of a critical turnover by England, which created the opportunity for the counter attack. Ultimately, Scotland's efforts fell short, as they lost the match 2-1, but at the very least, they didn't leave the game without leaving their mark.

The next match for Scotland could be an even tougher challenge, as they will face Japan on Friday. Japan finished second in the last World Cup and won the whole thing back in 2011. Hopefully, Scotland has gotten the nerves of the first World Cup game out of their system and will be ready for the task.
