VIDEO: Clip of Adam Ottavino's Nasty Pitches Overlaid Proves Just How Hard He is to Hit
By Austin Pert
New York Yankees relief pitcher Adam Ottavino hasn't given up an earned run since late April, and pitched another shutout inning en route to a 4-1 Yankee win over the Boston Red Sox Friday night. But in case you're still not sold on why batters are having a tough time picking him up, take a look at his stuff to see why he's been so unhittable.
It's incredible that the pitcher's fastball and slider can both end up in the exact same spot in the strike zone, breaking in opposite directions, and without the need for much framing from catcher Gary Sanchez. J.D. Martinez is fooled by both pitches, swinging and missing.
Ottavino currently possesses a 1.32 ERA, with his last earned run allowed coming against the Royals on April 21. The Bronx Bombers have won each of the last 13 games that he has appeared in, thanks to his reliability in one-inning situations.
