VIDEO: This Compilation of Booger McFarland's Worst MNF Calls is Solid Gold
By Michael Luciano
Monday Night Football hasn't been the highest-quality television broadcast over the last couple years, and part of the reason that the 2019 version struggled so massively has been the analysis of Anthony "Booger" McFarland, which often waffled between the nonsensical and the outright incorrect. This YouTube compilation shows Booger at his worst, running through his most fail-tastic calls of these last two years on ESPN.
In case you somehow weren't convinced that Booger isn't exactly Howard Cosell, this compilation should erase all doubt in your mind.
Against all odds, the McFarland-Joe Tessitore pairing in the booth has somehow become the highest-rated MNF crew since the days of Mike Tirico and Jon Gruden, as the broadcast had their highest ratings since 2015. Truth really is stranger than fiction.
As much as we like to rip on Booger, he's clearly passionate about the game and values his job, which we couldn't always say about Jason Witten last year. That doesn't mean that Mr. McFarland doesn't still have a lot of work to do in upping his game for 2020 and beyond, however.
