VIDEO: Conor McGregor Announces the 3 UFC Opponents He Wants to Face in 2020
By Scott Rogust
The mixed martial arts world woke up on Thursday morning to find out that "Notorious" Conor McGregor will be making his UFC return on Jan. 18. While the date was confirmed, his opponent remains a mystery. So, what does the former two-division UFC Champion have in store for fans in 2020? McGregor will fight his mystery opponent, followed by fighting the winner of the Nate Diaz-Jorge Masvidal fight at UFC 244, before having his much-desired rematch against UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In regards to his return fight, McGregor said he doesn't care who UFC President Dana White throws his way.
As for fighting the winner of Masvidal vs. Diaz, that might not be the case, as Diaz announced on social media on Thursday that he's pulling out of the fight due to a USADA anti-doping violation. It doesn't rule out a fight with Masvidal, however.
McGregor is hellbent on getting his rematch against Nurmagomedov, despite the latter utterly dominating him in their first fight. Yet, nobody remembers the fight itself. Rather, the all out brawl occurring inside and outside the octagon last October at UFC 229 stole the headlines.
Will the "Notorious" get his desired pathway throughout the 2020 calendar year? That remains to be seen. Let's just see who his first opponent will be this upcoming January in Las Vegas.
