VIDEO: Conor McGregor Dominates Cowboy Cerrone With Stunning KO in 40 Seconds
By Karl Rasmussen
Just as quickly as it began, the coveted UFC 246 bout between Conor McGregor and Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone ended. The two came out hitting hard, and McGregor broke the nose of the American with a vicious shoulder strike while in the clinch, before landing a devastating kick to his face. He proceeded to whale on a bloodied up Cerrone until the referee was forced to call an end to the fight, just 40 seconds into the opening round.
McGregor earned the victory by TKO, drawing thunderous applause from the crowd in Vegas. Cerrone was completely unprepared for the unique shoulder strike McGregor unleashed, which allowed the Irishman to go back to it twice more, inflicting serious damage onto Cowboy.
Ultimately, however, it was McGregor's kick that sealed the deal, as he connected with force directly to Cerrone's jaw.
As he proudly declared in the aftermath, McGregor becomes the first fighter to hold knockouts in three separate divisions.
