VIDEO: Cowboys DE DeMarcus Lawrence Suffers Shoulder Injury After Attempting to Tackle Ty Johnson
By Karl Rasmussen
DeMarcus Lawrence can lay down some huge hits, but that may not always be in his best interest. The star defensive end leveled Lions running back Ty Johnson, but ended up doing more damage to himself than his opponent. After the tackle, Lawrence remained on the turf with what looked to be a painful shoulder injury.
You can see Lawrence grab his shoulder immediately after the collision with Johnson, and he stayed down on the ground for a short while afterwards while being attended to by the Cowboys' medical staff.
Lawrence was able to walk off the field under his own power, but he was clearly shaken up by the contact.
It's honestly impressive that Johnson wasn't injured on the play as well, considering the sheer force Lawrence hit him with.
The defensive lineman is a key factor in Dallas' defensive identity, so the Cowboys will be hoping the injury is minor and that he'll be able to return to help them defend their lead over the Lions (or by Thanksgiving, at least).
