VIDEO: Cowboys Take Advantage of Early Eagles Turnovers With Tavon Austin and Ezekiel Elliott TDs
By Scott Rogust
In arguably the most bitter rivalry in the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys hit the scoreboard early over the Philadelphia Eagles. In the game's opening drive on Sunday, Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert fumbled the ball immediately after his reception, allowing the Cowboys to recover. They capitalized immediately, as they score on their first drive on a shifty run by receiver Tavon Austin.
The misery for the Philadelphia faithful only continued. On the very next drive, quarterback Carson Wentz was strip sacked by Dallas defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, giving the Cowboys offense the ball in scoring territory.
Ezekiel Elliott would strike quickly on an impressive and aggressive touchdown run.
Yet, after review, Elliott was ruled down at the one-yard line. Elliott wasn't deterred, as he scored from one-yard out on the very next play to give the Cowboys the early 14-0 lead.
The Cowboys are thriving in the early goings of Sunday Night Football, while the Eagles are looking for anything to give them momentum.
