Sitting along the third or first base line at a baseball game can be a dangerous proposition, especially if the stadium doesn't have nets that protect fans from foul balls. In Wednesday night's Chicago Cubs-Houston Astros game, we witnessed just how risky it can be for fans.

The little girl who Cubs player Albert Almora Jr. hit was promptly taken to the hospital following the impact. We're still unaware of how severe the injury is, but she's reportedly awake and stable.
The incident momentarily paused the game, and Almora was visibly emotional and distraught as soon as it happened. As a father himself, Almora felt a personal connection to the fan. It's an unfortunate reality of baseball and it's something that's completely out of the hitter's control.

Hopefully, this incident opens the MLB's eyes as to just how dangerous not having protective netting around these seats can be. Every stadium should extend the netting to an adequate point, or else we'll be writing a similar story in a few months, max.
