VIDEO: Cubs Completely Screw Themselves With Terrible Bases-Loaded Running Error
By Brendan Azoff
With the bases juiced in the second inning and just one out, the Cubs looked like they were primed to at least tie the game up against the Braves, until a base running gaffe ended the scoring threat and got Max Fried out of trouble.
The attempted squeeze play failed and Javier Báez was caught too far off of third base. The proceeding run-down not only got Báez out, but it led to the Braves turning an unusual double play, nabbing Wilson Contreras at third.
It was a wild sequence, one that the Cubs would soon be wise to forget. You have to be better then that, and in a game that supposedly features two of the top MLB teams, it is a little league sequence that keeps the Braves up in this one after Fried had walked the bases loaded.
