VIDEO: Cubs Fans Give Ben Zobrist Incredible Standing Ovation in His Return to Lineup
By Ryan Giglio
Ben Zobrist is back in the Cubs lineup on Tuesday after being away from the team since May as he was in the midst of a divorce from his wife Julianna. The former World Series MVP received a standing ovation before his first at-bat against the Mariners at Wrigley field, and man did Cubs fans show their appreciation for the veteran.
Talk about a welcome back! That's gotta feel good for Zobrist, who has undoubtedly been going through a tough time for a majority of the year. Let's also not forget he a tough time to start the year.
The 38-year-old was hitting .241/.343/.253 in 99 plate appearances before leaving the team. It will be unfair to expect great production in September from Zobrist, but the Cubs are hoping the vet can play well enough to lead the team in October.
Then again, the Cubs gave him all the time he needed, so he might be ready to deliver.
