VIDEO: Cubs Release Incredibly Touching Tribute to Joe Maddon
By Parker White
There was chatter swirling for what felt like ages that the 2019 season was going to be Joe Maddon's last in Chicago. As expected, after a disappointing season, the Cubs decided to move on and not retain Maddon. That doesn't mean his tenure in Chicago was a failure, though, by any means. Maddon will forever be a legend in that city, as he was the skipper who broke the 108-year curse. To show their gratitude, the Cubs released this incredibly touching tribute video thanking Maddon for entirely revamping the culture.
During his five seasons in Chicago, Maddon's teams won over 90 games four times. The Cubs won two division titles under Maddon, and they won 19 postseason games, including all 11 in 2016.
Maybe it was time for the Cubs to make a change, but it's going to be tough to find someone who'll be just as, if not more, successful than Maddon. He embraced that city and changed everybody's opinion of that franchise, which lost routinely before he got there.
