VIDEO: Cubs Reliever Steve Cishek Carted Off Field After Being Drilled in Shin During Warmups

You don't see this everyday. Chicago Cubs right-handed pitcher Steve Cishek was carted off the field after getting hit by a ball during warmups on Wednesday afternoon. Take a look at this:

It's not immediately clear from these clips exactly what happened, so it's unfair to speculate, but we do know that Cishek was hit in the shin or knee area with a ball during warmups. The severity is unknown, but it was clearly bad enough that he needed to be carted off the field in order to avoid putting any weight on the affected area.

The Cubs just signed closer Craig Kimbrel to help stabilize and improve their bullpen, particularly in the ninth inning, but he's still a few weeks away from proper readiness. Now, one of their key setup men is out of action.

This is not good news for the Cubs or Cishek, who in 29 appearances owns a 3.21 ERA and has 30 strikeouts over 28 innings.
