VIDEO: Cubs Snag Lead Over Mets On Addison Russell Home Run
By Michael Luciano
Just when things were looking up for Jason Vargas, he had to regress to the mean. Vargas been in the middle of a pretty solid stretch after a disastrous April, but has reverted to his old ways against the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Addison Russell took Vargas deep for a two-run home run to give Chicago a 4-3 lead over the New York Mets in the fifth inning.
Looks like brand new 82-year-old pitching coach Phil Regan isn't exactly helping much.
To make matters worse, Russell has been struggling mightily this season. Still trying to find his way in the batters box, he came into this game hitting .236 with four home runs.
There really is nothing like a Mets pitcher to break you out of your slump.
Things are going from bad to worse to somehow even worse than that with the Mets, while the Cubs aren't letting the Brewers grab the NL Central crown without a fight.
