VIDEO: Cubs Star Willson Contreras Adorably Plays Catch With Kid in Wrigley Bleachers
By Charles Nason
For most kids, the reason you bring your glove to a game is the oft-chance of catching a home run or foul ball. Using that glove to play catch with one of your favorite players sounds like a dream, even less realistic. One lucky fan had that dream come true during the Cubs' win on Saturday over the Cardinals, however.
Chicago's catcher and occasional outfielder Willson Contreras took the time to have a catch with a young fan in between innings. It's always heartwarming to see professional athletes make time for the fans, especially those young ones who could only dream of this type of player-fan interaction.
Apparently, Contreras also played a part in converting another young fan decked in Cardinals gear. A few innings after Contreras tossed him a ball, that same kid came back in a Cubs shirt and hat.
That quick game of catch is something that kid will never forget. With baseball allowing for slightly more fan and player interaction than most professional sports, it's great to see players take advantage of that. It can also lead to some good karma for those players and teams that take the time to give back.
