VIDEO: Danny Ainge Sounds Totally Ready to Move on From Kyrie Irving
By Zack Jiang
Celtics president Danny Ainge addressed the media on Wednesday for the first time since the team's exit from the playoffs. He was bombarded with questions regarding the impending free agency of Kyrie Irving, and well, he looked like he was ready to move on from the conversation, and perhaps the player himself.
Ainge pretty much told the media that he had no idea what Irving's plans are and that he did not regret trading for him. However, he also doesn't seem very upset or worried at the potential of losing Irving.
It's hard to blame Ainge after what Irving put the Celtics through last season. From teammate callouts to poor playoff performances, he proved that he was not the leader the team had hoped for. Now, with rumors swirling of Irving's potential exit to other teams such as the Lakers, Nets, and Knicks, the Celtics look fully prepared to move on.
Ainge has consistently been one of the best team presidents in the league, and has always built stellar rosters for the Celtics and come out with solid hauls in trades. If he believes moving forward without Kyrie is the best option, fans should absolutely trust him.
