VIDEO: David Montgomery Trucks Multiple Bears Defenders on Sick Play at Training Camp
By Michael Luciano
Based on David Montgomery's performance in training camp to this point, Bears fans aren't going to have a hard time forgetting about Jordan Howard. The former Iowa State star running back somehow managed to last until the third round, where Chicago snatched him up. While he's known more for his elusiveness, Montgomery showed he's more than capable of lowering his shoulder and barreling through defenders, as several Bears had the unfortunate privilege of finding out.
Montgomery figures to be the lead back alongside Tarik Cohen now that Howard is a Philadelphia Eagle. Montgomery, who ran for 1,216 yards and 13 touchdowns last season, owns the two highest marks for broken tackles in a single season in college football history.
The NFL, however, is a totally different beast than the Big 12, especially for a running back, but everything Montgomery has shown so far proves he's ready for the next level.
It bears repeating that a guy with his combination of vision, speed and escapability lasted until the third round. Matt Nagy and Chicago likely ended up with one of the steals of the draft.
