What's the best way to ensure you don't embarrass yourself while throwing out the first pitch at a big league game? Practice. Prior to his big moment at the pitcher's mound, Nowitzki decided to do just that. Opting to go with the Darren O'Day side arm delivery, Nowitzki let it fly, and it traveled just a bit wide of "home plate."

Yeah, Nowtizki learned that only a select few can use the side arm throw with precision.

Nowitzki did have redemption on the field, as his first pitch actually reached home plate. And it's all thanks to the normal, go-to pitching form.

Dirk Nowitzki avoided disaster and joining the likes of 50 Cent on the "Worst First Pitches" list.
