VIDEO: DJ LeMahieu and Brett Gardner Rip Solo Shots in the 6th as Yankees Build on Lead Over Twins
By Karl Rasmussen
The Twins and Yankees have been in a back-and-forth battle in the Bronx Friday night. Just when one team takes an edge, the other strikes back and reduces or deletes it. Well, the Yankees finally managed to break that trend in the sixth inning. DJ LeMahieu unleashed a solo shot off Ty Buttrey to give the Yanks a 6-4 lead.
The Twins were clawing back into the game, but all that progress evaporated with LeMahieu's blast.
That wasn't all the damage to come in the inning however, as a few batters later, Brett Gardner stepped up the plate and parked a moonshot in the seats in right field.
Talk about a momentum shifting inning. Both Gardy and LeMahieu reached career highs in home runs throughout the regular season and they've clearly maintained that power in October.
