VIDEO: DJ LeMahieu Crushes Walk-Off Home Run to Right to Conquer Yankees' Demons Against A's
By Adam Weinrib
Entering the bottom of the 11th inning, the New York Yankees had the top of the order headed to the plate with a lot of pressure on their shoulders. Trying to stave off a fifth consecutive loss against the Oakland A's, it was going to take all the guts the team had to break the silence. An Aaron Judge leaping catch at the wall, two shutout innings from Cory Gearrin...the dam wasn't going to hold forever. Lucky for the Yankees, Team MVP DJ LeMahieu was sick to death of striking out -- he broke an 0-for-4 afternoon by lofting a blast way deep into right field, silencing the doubters on this pleasant Saturday.
That might've been the Yankees' final shot in this one. They took it, knocking their 74th blast of the month (!!!) out of the ball yard in the Bronx. What a special season.
