VIDEO: DK Metcalf Shuts Down Damarious Randall After Browns DB Mocked His Route-Running
By Chris Pyo
DK Metcalf's most defining quality entering the NFL Draft was freak athleticism, which paired with his blazing speed and unreal vertical leap made him one of the bigger storylines of Draft Day. There were some concerns about Metcalf's route-running ability on plays that didn't involve a deep go-route, and one NFL DB decided to give him some flak for it in the offseason. Browns DB Damarious Randall commented "lol" on a video of Russell Wilson and DK Metcalf getting in some reps over the offseason, a comment he's probably regretting right about now.
The two were matched up on Sunday, and on one play in particular, the Seahawks rookie straight up embarrassed Randall.
On the play in question, you can see Metcalf make a beautiful stutter step at the beginning of his drive in order to create separation from cornerback TJ Carrie. After bypassing Carrie with ease, Metcalf finds himself one-on-one with Randall, who he proceeds to send to the ground with a devastating stiff arm.
There's no better feeling than getting a win over someone who was talking trash and making them look absolutely inferior in the process. Randall will probably think twice before throwing shade at an opposing wideout on Twitter, because Metcalf tossed him to the side like it was nothing on the reception.
While Metcalf had a solid day, four receptions for 69 yards, the biggest highlight certainly came on this play.
