VIDEO: Dodgers' Kenley Jansen Blows Save Against Padres With Wildest Pitch You'll Ever See
By Adam Weinrib
Kenley Jansen doesn't like pitching in San Diego in 2019. He...maybe doesn't like pitching in 2019 in general. The Dodgers' inimitable closer, coming off a postseason in which he blew two one-run home games against the Red Sox in back to back World Series contests, has now blown seven saves on the season, and they've increased in frequency recently. In fact, umpires saved him from an eighth against the Yankees last week by taking the tying run off the board for fun. This one might be the toughest to swallow yet; Jansen had the tying run at third with a single out, and uncorked a pitch to the heavens.
Dodgers fans...took it well.
Of course, because it's still 2019, the Dodgers won in extras anyway, something it seems they have a 100% hit rate of doing.
Still, Jansen's antics remain a concern, and there's not really a more palatable option waiting in the wings. Dustin...May?
