VIDEO: Dom Smith Drills Walk-Off Home Run for Mets to Cap Ridiculous Game 162
By Scott Rogust
The New York Mets' postseason aspirations came to an end earlier this week, with nothing left to play for other than pride. In the season finale against the Atlanta Braves, the Mets relieved Rookie Home Run Leader Pete Alonso in favor of Dom Smith, who just returned from the injured list due to a stress reaction in his right foot. Facing a 6-4 deficit to the Braves in the 11th inning, Mets fans were expecting the season to end with yet another loss. Smith put an end to that negativity, as he hit a three-run bomb to right-center field to give the Mets the 7-6 walk-off win. In his first AB back, no less!
While the 2019 season didn't culminate in a postseason berth, the New York Mets have a lot to be excited for in the years to come.
