VIDEO: Drew Brees Spotted Practicing Without Thumb Brace
By Sean Facey

The New Orleans Saints have been playing without franchise star and future Hall of Famer Drew Brees since he suffered a thumb injury in Week 2, but he may be closer to returning than many expected. The Saints quarterback was spotted practicing without a brace over his ailing thumb on Friday ahead of the team's Week 6 matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars

Though the Saints have certainly missed Brees, they've played just fine without him. They've gone 3-0 with backup Teddy Bridgewater under center and have even bested tough opponents like the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks during that stretch.
But it never hurts to have one of the best quarterbacks of all time passing the ball, and when Brees returns from dealing with his surgically repaired thumb, the team is sure to kick it in to high gear. He's reportedly gearing up for a Week 8 return against the Arizona Cardinals.
On Drew Brees: I've heard he's pushing to get back before week 9 bye, but #Saints want to be cautious, especially given Teddy Bridgewater's performance. Team seems to be eyeing week 10 return, but Brees has apparently been living in the training room in hopes of targeting week 8.

The Saints have a bye in Week 9, which would allow Brees to get in a start before having an elongated rest prior to his next outing.
While Bridgewater has performed admirably in Brees' stead, there's no denying that having the 40-year-old calling the shots is the team's best bet at success in 2019.
