VIDEO: Nelson Agholor Lets Out Frustration While Explaining Key Missed Catch on Sunday Night
By Adam Weinrib
It's been a tough few days for Eagles wideout Nelson Agholor, who's had to defend his effort level from unexpected attacks after he shouldered a good portion of the blame for a 37-10 defeat in Dallas on Sunday. Was the loss squarely on his shoulders? Surely, no. Not even close. But when you play in Philly and something that appears to be a low-effort moment gets captured on camera, scorn follows. So, how's Agholor been taking the discourse? Based on this interview clip that was released on Tuesday, not so great.
You rarely see an athlete turn directly to camera and deliver a soliloquy like that. Powerful.
According to the man himself, he picked up the ball late, was running as quickly as possible down the line, and still believed he had enough burst left to reach it. Clearly, that calculation was wrong. But if you believe Agholor, the effort level was always at a 10, as soon as he properly judged the trajectory.
Of all the cities in this country, Philly is famously the least forgiving here. I'm not sure this straight-to-camera message will go over well.
