VIDEO: Ed Orgeron's Take on Potential LSU-Alabama Rematch is Why He's the Coach of the Year
By Andy Loughmiller
Alabama and LSU faced off in the college football game of the year this past weekend. The Tigers finally got the better of the Crimson Tide in this SEC showdown for the ages. While many people are already praying for a scenario where these two teams meet again in the College Football Playoff, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron isn't thinking that far ahead.
Orgeron is still taking the season one game at a time. He says that his team is currently focused on their upcoming matchup vs. Ole Miss when he was asked about the Tigers' potential chances against Ohio State on a neutral field. Then, when he was asked about facing Alabama again, he said LSU still needs to win out and take care of business in the SEC championship game. And if they have to face Bama again? The Tigers will be ready.
This is why the Tigers are the No. 1-ranked team in the country. They are coming off yet another signature win and refuse to get ahead of themselves. That type of attitude starts at the top with Coach O and trickles down to the rest of the team.
This is also the reason he should be the frontrunner to win the CFB Coach of the Year award. His philosophies and willingness to adapt played a huge role in LSU's monumental success this year.
Orgeron deserves all of the praise he has been receiving. LSU had been Alabama's punching bag in years past, and this time the Tigers pulled off one of the best wins in program history.
And it could end up being one of the best seasons in school history when all is said and done.
