The stinking specter of double-doink is surely hanging low over the proceedings tonight at Soldier Field. The Bears, after all, are playing their first football game that matters since crashing out of the playoffs in utterly demoralizing fashion courtesy of axed kicked Cody Parkey. But leave it to the unsung Eddy Pineiro to ease tensions around the Windy City with a 38-yard field goal that went right down Main Street.
Sometimes, that ol' universe sighs its magical sigh. Just like that, Da Bears had scored the first points of the 2019 NFL season.
Naturally, Pineiro followed up the field goal with a kickoff out of bounds, giving the Packers really terrific field position they didn't earn.
