VIDEO: Edwin Encarnacion Breaks Out of Slump With Bases-Clearing Double Against Jays
By Brian Cass
When the New York Yankees acquired first baseman Edwin Encarnacion before the All-Star break, it felt like a championship move. He was primed to propel the already stout Yankees lineup en route to a World Series title. But, since the move, Encarnacion has been batting under .200 and has yet to provide the Yanks with that extra juice they were expecting. With the second half of the MLB season now underway, it appears that Encarnacion has finally broken out of his slump with this bases-clearing double against Toronto.
That shot in the arm gave the Yanks a commanding 4-0 lead over the Blue Jays in the fifth.
Hopefully, this a sign of things to come for the slugger, as New York prepares to make a championship run this October.
