VIDEO: Eloy Jimenez Gets Ultimate Revenge Blast in 9th Inning at Wrigley to Take Lead on Cubs
By Michael Luciano
Oh, the irony. Before he established himself as the Chicago White Sox No. 3 hitter of the future, Eloy Jimenez was once in the Cubs minor league system, but was shipped across town in the deal that sent Jose Quintana to Wrigley Field. Something tells me the Cubs might be regretting that deal right about now, as Jimenez launched one deep into the night off of Pedro Strop.
Jimenez's two-run blast, his 12th home run of the year, gave the White Sox a 3-1 lead in the ninth inning.
If this isn't the dictionary definition of poetic justice, then I don't know what is.
While Jimenez's latest home run is giving the White Sox another glimpse at what will surely be an incredibly bright future, Strop's meltdown reminded the Cubs that Craig Kimbrel can't come fast enough.
