VIDEO: End of Regulation in Notre Dame-Toledo Nail-Biter Was Truly Nauseating
By Michael Luciano

Tod Kowalczyk and the Toledo Rockets were just seconds away from pulling off a shocking upset of Mike Brey and Notre Dame in South Bend. If not for some truly outrageous bad luck, the Rockets might have actually made it a reality. The first cruel knife twist was the Irish getting a second chance on a game-tying 3-pointer after the ball got stuck against the back iron.

Which, as fate would have it, they nailed, sending the game to overtime.

Brey's Irish dominated the overtime period, holding Toledo to just four points in the extra frame. Thanks to John Mooney's 15 rebounds and Dane Goodwin's 16 points, the Irish took care of business and managed to hold off the Rockets in a 64-62 win.

In a season where Evansville has already beaten Kentucky at Rupp Arena and Utah Valley nearly did the same, no game can be chalked up as an easy win. Brey and the Irish must have someone up above looking out for them considering the wackiness needed to grab a win here.
