VIDEO: Eric Thames Launches Solo Shot off Max Scherzer as Brewers Build on Early Lead
By Chris Pyo
Washington Nationals starter Max Scherzer might be yanked from the NL Wild Card game early if he keeps giving up home runs left and right. After serving up a two-run shot to Yasmani Grandal in the first inning, Scherzer surrendered a solo shot to Eric Thames, who mashed the ball to the right-center field bleachers and extended Milwaukee's lead to three runs.
In such a high-stakes game, Scherzer hasn't been able to locate his pitches as effectively as he did during the regular season, and that's put his team down 3-0 against a Brewers team that's hungry to prove that they can win even without MVP candidate Christian Yelich in their lineup.
It doesn't look too good for Scherzer right now, as the Nationals' lineup will look to pick him up and give him some much-needed run support.
