Tyson Fury is in the spotlight for his first fight of the year, but there's more to him outside of the ring. Israel Gutierrez spoke out about the heavyweight with Pride Month in full swing during his segment on "Around the Horn." Fury has made heinous homophobic comments in the past and the ESPN reporter wanted to set the record straight.

"It makes me feel like I don't matter," he said. "It makes me feel like my friends don't matter, it makes me feel like my partner doesn't matter...It's because of guys like that that I have to fight every single day."
Fury has always been outspokenly homophobic, once even saying that acceptance of homosexuality is one of the "three things that need to be accomplished before the devil comes home."
Gutierrez continued his emotional message, adding that he he plans to watch Fury's fight on Saturday night and that he hopes that he draws strength from it.

It was commendable of Gutierrez to speak out against the problems surrounding Fury.
His strong words serve as a stark reminder that even in an increasingly accepting society, there are still pockets of hate that continue to fester and that there's still a long way to go before true acceptance prevails.
