VIDEO: Ezekiel Elliott's Agent Rocky Arceneaux Comments on Contract Negotiations With Cowboys
By Jerry Trotta

Breathe easy, Dallas Cowboys fans, because the deception and imprecise reporting on Ezekiel Elliott's contract dispute might finally be drawing to a close. On Tuesday, it was reported that the three-time Pro-Bowler was closing in on a monster extension that would make him the highest-paid tailback in the NFL. Fast forward a few hours later and Zeke's agent Rocky Arceneaux provided an update on the prolonged stalemate, during which he implied that an agreement between both sides is inbound.
"Very, very close."

That sound you hear is the entirety of Big D breathing a compiled and profound sigh of relief. It appears that Zeke is more than motivated to get a deal done and Arceneaux's quote suggests the Cowboys are prepared to cough up his desired salary.
If a deal is in fact signed within the next 24 hours, there's no reason to believe the Ohio State product wouldn't be on the field for Sunday's season-opening showdown against the Giants. Whether he starts the game, however, remains open for discussion, but that's not important.

Does he expect Zeke to play Sunday?
"I think Zeke showed his commitment by coming back to Dallas. We didn't come here not to do a deal. So I think he's committed. Both sides are."
Again, we'd advise against getting hopes up too much as this soap opera has taken more turns than we can count over the last month. Nonetheless, it would be impossible to deny the prospect that an Adam Schefter bomb is brewing.
Keep those phones handy, folks.
