VIDEO: Footage Emerges of Luis Severino's Latest Sim Game and Yankee Fans Should Be Encouraged
By Sean Facey
Plenty of injured players have come and gone for the New York Yankees this year, but the one player whose absence has harmed the team the most is Luis Severino. While the rest of the rotation burns, he's yet to pitch for the team at all in 2019 due to rotator cuff inflammation and a handful of setbacks. However, Sevy's made steady progress, and this footage of him throwing in a simulated game should have fans of the Bronx Bombers hopeful for his return.
From the fluidity of his wind-up to the glorious pop of the catcher's mitt, it looks as though the two-time All-Star hasn't lost a step.
The Yankees sure could use him back as soon as humanly possible. The rotation's 4.82 ERA is the 12th-highest in baseball this year. If he can make it back to the team sometime before the playoffs and get back into the swing of things, the rotation will be in much better shape for October.
