VIDEO: Gary Cohen's Call of Dom Smith's Season-Ending Walk-Off Homer is Positively Incredible
By Chris Pyo
The New York Mets have just concluded a season of heartbreak, breakouts, and scattered positivity with one of the most glorious home run calls you'll ever watch. Unable to capitalize on their hot streak in the middle of the season and failing to capture a playoff spot, the Mets instead turned their attention to finishing their season on the best note possible, and they did just that.
Here's the home run, in all of its glory. Two men on, two men out, 6-4 Braves, and Dominic Smith stepped UP.
The Mets will finish the season only three games out of a Wild Card spot, and yet the season seemed so much worse than their final record actually shows.
Who can forget Mickey Callaway's struggles to rein in his players, Edwin Diaz's awful closing performances, or Noah Syndergaard's issues with Wilson Ramos? The Mets truly were a dysfunctional team this year that culled positive vibes for extended stretches, and it's a wonder they finished with an 86-76 record.
Until next season, Mets fans. There's a lot to like here.
