VIDEO: Gary Sanchez Gets Yankees on the Board Early With Solo Shot Against Athletics
By Scott Rogust
Talk about a strong way to start you West Coast road trip. The New York Yankees traveled to the opposite side of the country to take on the Oakland Athletics on Tuesday. In the top of the first inning, slugging catcher Gary Sanchez sent a Homer Bailey pitch 427-feet to center field to give the Yankees an early 1-0 lead.
While it was a good start to the night offensively, the same can't be said for the Yankees' pitching, who allowed three runs in the first.
Fortunately the Yankees weren't blanked early on, and they can expect their bats to continue to work Homer Bailey and the A's pitchers for the rest of the night.
