VIDEO: George Springer Defends Himself After Taking Heat for Lack of Hustle on 8th-Inning WS Double

It's not often a superstar gets blasted for delivering a clutch double late in the game for his team, but here we are with George Springer. The stud has received some heat for not hustling on what thousands out there, including himself, thought was a game-tying homer against the Nats on Tuesday night in Game 1 of the World Series. After the game, he spoke with reporters to share his side of things after he was caught watching the ball instead of sprinting out of the box:

Springer emphatically said he wasn't really watching the outfield or the ball, but more had his eye on Kyle Tucker who had tagged up at second. In his response, the Houston Astros slugger said there's no way he could have made it to third by then.

Jose Altuve went on to fly out shortly after. Had Springer been on third, he would have scored and the game would have been tied at 5-5.

While Springer might be taking some shots right now from Twitter bullies, how in the heck did that ball stay in the park? It's unlucky, but at the same time, you better believe he'll be hustling from the start the rest of the series and not let this happen again.
