VIDEO: George Springer Rocks 3-Run Shot off Masahiro Tanaka as Astros Take Lead Over Yankees
By Scott Rogust
That Gary Sanchez strikeout with the bases loaded in the first inning came back to haunt the New York Yankees. In the top of the third inning, Yankees pitcher Masahiro Tanaka allowed two bases runners due to a walk and a single. Houston Astros slugger George Springer stepped up to the plate and unleashed a three-run homer to give the Astros a 3-1 lead.
That is now Springer's 13th career postseason home run, the most for any Astros player in franchise history.
The Yankees definitely would like to have that first inning back again, maybe without Gary Sanchez in that situation.
While Tanaka was looking sharp throughout the first two innings, the wheels came off a bit in the third frame.
