VIDEO: Georgia Pulls Off Remarkably Successful 'Pink Out' to Honor Arkansas State Head Coach's Wife
By Adam Weinrib
When Arkansas State head coach Blake Anderson lost his wife Wendy after a dreadful two-year battle with breast cancer in mid-August, he couldn't have expected such a warm welcome upon arriving in Athens to play Georgia. Making a tough road fight that much easier, the UGA faithful responded in droves to the instructions they received, showing up wearing a remarkable amount of pink in honor of Wendy Anderson, and showing Coach Anderson just how loved his family is in this moment.
Heart-wrenching. Just an incredible effort by a crowd that's generally pretty hostile.
Instead, they were emotional and hospitable to a man who stood by his beloved wife's side through unspeakable, drawn-out tragedy.
Coach Anderson shared the totality of his story with ESPN this week as well, ahead of the prominent weekend showdown.
Let's continue to show Anderson and his family love, as the fight rarely ends after losing a loved one. Once the unspeakable occurs, the battle to keep their memory alive begins.
Georgia fans certainly helped as best they could this weekend.
