VIDEO: Gerrit Cole's Reaction to Surrendering a Homer in World Series is Brutal
By Chris Pyo
Houston Astros stud pitcher Gerrit Cole had a rough Game 1 of the World Series. Cole imploded at the wrong moment, giving up five runs over seven innings, including home runs to Ryan Zimmerman and Juan Soto on his way to his first loss since May 22. Here's his reaction in the immediate aftermath of Zimmerman's dinger.
Yeah, that's about as rough as it gets. Cole has otherwise been dominant on the mound, especially in the playoffs. Before this game, he had been sporting a sparkling 0.40 ERA with 32 strikeouts en route to a 3-0 record.
Now, he's 3-1 and has a couple of days to sort whatever issues he had against the Nationals before he presumably goes up against them again in the series.
For now, it'll be up to Justin Verlander to pick up the slack and try to make sure that the Astros don't fall two games down to the Nationals.
