On Monday, Giancarlo Stanton reported to High-A Tampa to begin his rehab assignment. He struck out in his first at-bat, but clearly didn't let that get to him, as he completely clobbered a homer in his second at-bat of the evening.

The New York Yankees cleared Stanton to move to the final phase of his recovery from the shoulder injury he incurred while rehabbing from the strained biceps injury he had, and he was clearly antsy to get back into game action. It may not take him long to get back to the Yankees if he keeps this up, as he's also getting action in the field on Monday night, which is a huge step in his road back to the majors.

The Yankees have done fine without Stanton, as they're leading the AL East with a 28-17 record, but his bat is sorely missed.

Stanton will likely need to string together a few games in right field before the Yankees consider bringing him up, but if he continues to mash the baseball like he just did, it may take considerably less games than initially thought.
