VIDEO: Giancarlo Stanton Smokes Solo Shot for Yankees' 300th Home Run of the Year
By Chris Russo
The year of the home run just continues in the MLB as Giancarlo Stanton puts a stamp on the New York Yankees' powerful season. After the Twins became the first team in MLB history to record a 300-homer season, the Yankees quickly followed up the very next day. Stanton parked a solo shot in the seats for home run No. 300 for the Bombers.
In likely the final series at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Stanton hammered the appropriately nicknamed Bombers' 300th home run of the season, placing them just one behind the Minnesota Twins' MLB-leading 301 dingers.
It wasn't long before the Yanks tied that tally though, as Cameron Maybin ripped a solo shot of his own in the top of the second inning.
It's an incredible accomplishment the Yankees achieved considering the team has been plagued by injuries throughout the campaign. Even without some of their best sluggers they've been able to achieve a record-setting season, thanks to the contributions from various players within the organization.
