VIDEO: Giants DB Janoris Jenkins Offers Weak Explanation for NSFW Twitter Insult Directed at Fan
By Ian Anderson
Janoris Jenkins got into some Twitter beef with a fan during practice this week, going yards beyond the line. Luckily, Jenkins tried to explain what set him off and forced his coarse language on Thursday, and his explanation has just a few flaws.
Yes, Jenkins claimed that the tweet probably sent when he set his phone down because they have no service in the training room. Yeah, right. He also -- and we can't stress this enough -- downplayed the use of a slur just because it's something he'll say with his boys when he's home. Great.
The cornerback has been displeased with his lack of playing time for this 2-11 outfit, and often vents about it during postgame press conferences.
New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur was not pleased, to say the least, following this impromptu presser, and he has enough on his plate as it is with a 2-11 team.
He stated that Jenkins should not be on his phone during practice, and that really could be considered a death sentence for the corner's playing time.
The initial tweet was very insensitive, which makes matters worse, and Giants fans are not very happy with it.
Calls for GM Dave Gettleman to be fired have been voiced since the Giants traded superstar receiver Odell Beckham Jr. back in March. It seems like Beckham was used as a scapegoat for the poor locker room culture, but nothing has changed. It seems fans may have a point.
