VIDEO: Giants Rookie Tyler Rogers Recorded His First MLB Strikeout on Insane Pitch
By Parker White
San Francisco Giants reliever Tyler Rogers made his major league debut last week and tossed a scoreless inning. That's awesome, but during his next time out on Friday, Rogers recorded his first strikeout on a pitch that looked damn near unhittable. Take a look:
His submarine delivery already makes it tough to see the ball, but then he threw something that was only 72 mph. It wasn't a fastball or a curveball, even though it had some wicked late movement.
Was it a slider? Who knows, but it was extremely effective and he should paint the outside part of the plate more often with the filthy pitch.
Rogers, who is the twin brother of Minnesota Twins pitcher Taylor Rogers, wasn't doing great at Triple-A this season, but he's off to an excellent start to life in the majors and has an unrecognizable pitch that is absolutely devastating.
