VIDEO: Gio Urshela Rips 2-Run Home Run to Tie Yankees Franchise Record
By Sean Facey
The 2019 Yankees have etched their names into the record books! Third base All-Star finalist Gio Urshela ripped a two-run home run just over the short porch to tie the Yankees franchise record for consecutive games with a home run.
Urshela's blast off of Houston Astros starter Wade Miley marked the 25th consecutive game in which the Yankees have hit a home run, pulling even with the 1941 team. The '41 Yankees went on to win the World Series, just in case you were curious.
The homer-happy Yanks are one of the top power teams in baseball, and as is evident by Urshela's knock, they can hurt their opponents from virtually any spot in the order.
This was the team's first hit of the game, and of COURSE it left the yard. Truly a marvel.
