VIDEO: Gleyber Torres Knocks in 2 Runs With Clutch Double off Ty Buttrey
By Jerry Trotta
The New York Yankees seemed poised to take the lead in the bottom half of the fifth inning in Game 1 when Twins reliever Ty Buttrey issued a string of walks that ultimately loaded the bases. In a tie game at three runs apiece, Gleyber Torres subsequently stepped into the dish with a chance to gift Aaron Boone's bullpen a cushion to work with, and the young phenom did just that, smacking a double past a diving Miguel Sano at third base to drive in two runs.
A 3-2 count with the bases loaded and one out in a tied game of the ALDS? If thats not a moment that Torres has been working his entire life to be a part of, then we don't know what is.
Game 1 has been an absolute thriller and something tells us that this one is has more theatrics waiting in the wings.
