VIDEO: Gleyber Torres Smokes 19th Homer as Yankees Pounce on Blue Jays Early
By Brian Cass
In case you haven't heard, the New York Yankees are good, really good. They look like the best team in baseball as of late, in large part because of the heavy bats they've been rolling out each night. Second baseman Gleyber Torres has been one of the team's many strong sluggers this season, and he's proving it once again with this deep shot against the Toronto Blue Jays in the second inning.
See ya! The entire stadium knew that one was gone as soon as it came off Torres' bat. That solo shot marks his 19th long ball of the year and the 131st homer for the ball club this season.
The Yanks have the fourth most home runs in all of baseball, and Torres has played a big part in that. Only catcher Gary Sánchez and technically Edwin Encarnación have more homers on the Yanks than Torres this year with 23 and 24 respectively, though 22 of Edwin's were with Seattle. .
