VIDEO: Here's the Play Gordon Hayward Injured His Hand vs Spurs
By Chris Pyo

This is nowhere near as gruesome as his leg injury two seasons ago, but the video of Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward fracturing his hand today against the San Antonio Spurs should still make any fan wince, especially considering the context of Hayward's career and his hot start to the season. Take a look at this play, in which Hayward slams into LaMarcus Aldridge and immediately grabs his left hand in obvious pain:

This is a huge blow to both Hayward and the Celtics. So far this season Hayward was looking like the perennial All-Star candidate he had been with the Jazz, averaging 20.3 points, 7.9 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game and helping lead the Celtics to a 6-1 record, the best in the Eastern Conference.
Boston's Gordon Hayward will see a specialist on Monday to determine need for surgery on fractured left hand, agent Mark Bartelstein of @PrioritySports tells ESPN. If needed, surgery will take place Monday. Timeline on a return is unclear until then.

It's unknown how long Hayward will be out for, although a fractured hand is never an easy injury to quickly recover from. Here's to Hayward making a full recovery and rediscovering his form once he comes back from this injury, whenever that might be.
