VIDEO: Hilarious Clip Somehow Makes it Look like Michael Conforto Decapitated Steven Matz
By Michael Luciano

Even when the surging New York Mets are playing their best baseball, they can't get out of their own way. After they've won 12 of their last 13 games, Michael Conforto had to spoil the fun by chopping off Steven Matz's head. After Conforto launched career home run No. 100 and No. 24 in the 2019 season, he almost brought an extremely premature end to Matz's season while celebrating.

Classic Mets.
Much has been made about the renewed vigor with which the starting rotation has been pitching and the dominance of Pete Alonso, but Conforto might be the single hottest player on his own team.
When he isn't karate chopping teammates in the face, Conforto is doing nothing but hitting dingers. His home run today against the Miami Marlins was his sixth in the last 11 games.
Pete Alonso gets the headlines, but Michael Conforto is actually hotter at the plate right now. His two-run shot in the third inning is his sixth in 11 games, and the 100th of his career.

Mets 4, Marlins 1, bottom third.
Meanwhile, Matz, who was at one point relegated to the bullpen, has spun six innings of two-run ball as the Mets continue their scintillating August.
