VIDEO: Indians Hit Back-to-Back-to-Back Dingers Against Rangers
By Michael Luciano
Someone buy Texas Rangers reliever Drew Smyly a drink after this outing, because the Cleveland Indians lit him up in the seventh inning. Smyly gave up three consecutive home runs, with Jake Bauers launching the first, Roberto Perez the second and Tyler Naquin the third. Those three homers gave the Indians a comfortable 10-1 lead at Globe Life Park.
Those three home runs were Bauers' ninth, Perez's 12th, and Naquin's third of the season.
While Indians fans are ecstatic that someone other than Francisco Lindor decided to carry the offense for one night, Rangers fans have been unloading on Smyly. With his ERA now at a resounding 8.42, the surprising Rangers need to figure out if he's worth keeping around as they look to snag a Wild Card spot.
With the first place Minnesota Twins going through a rough patch, this offensive outburst is exactly what the Indians needed to remind the Twins that they aren't going away.
