VIDEO: Indians' Yasiel Puig Spent His Day off in New York Hanging Out With Children Battling Cancer
By Sean Facey

With each passing day, Yasiel Puig seems to add an extra layer of truth to his famous saying "Puig your friend." The Cleveland Indians outfielder had a day off in New York prior to the team's series against the Mets, and he decided to spend his time hanging out with children fighting cancer.
What a guy.
While in town to play the Mets, @YasielPuig spent today at @CampSimcha with children who are battling cancer. His enthusiasm toward bringing sheer joy to these children should be an example for athletes/celebrities everywhere.

His day at Camp Simcha, an overnight camp for children with cancer, consisted of signing hats, dancing around, and even playing baseball.
True to his nature, though, he absolutely destroyed the pitch he saw from one of the campers and unleashed a killer bat flip, much to the joy of the kids watching.
Following his visit, he even dedicated his on-field performance to the campers, calling them his inspiration.
Today was one of the best days of my life. I want to thank so many people, starting with all of my new friends at @campsimcha. Thank you for welcoming me and giving me your smiles today. You are my inspiration and when I do good things on the field I will do it for you. pic.twitter.com/uSSrYX2ibW

Not many athletes go about their business with the type of boundless enthusiasm that Puig does, and it's touching to see him putting it to good use with these kids.
It's these types of moments that remind us of the pure elation that athletes can provide to the world. Absolute characters like Puig can bring a smile to anyone's face if they're given the opportunity.
